Why do glocks have no safety

Can a gun go off in a holster? Guns won't 'go off' unless you pull the trigger, and holstered firearms just don't get the trigger pulled. The holster needs to, at least, completely cover the trigger guard and keep the gun where you last put it. Should you conceal carry with a round in the chamber? You don't carry with a round in the chamber because: It is just too dangerous. The gun could go off inadvertently and cause injury or death. It does not take that long to rack the slide and chamber a round.

Are guns without safeties dangerous? Nope, because the safety or lack of a safety isn't what makes the gun fire. The USER makes the gun operate. If the user is competent, safe, and aware of what they are doing, they can be just as safe with a firearm without a lever safety, as they would be with one.

Can a gun fire if dropped? Modern pistols, rifles and shotguns are pretty safe and don't normally fire when they're dropped. As with any firearm, however, due caution should be used when handling them. Do you carry with the safety on? Absolutely carry one in the chamber. If your gun has an external safety then I strongly suggest keeping it on safe while carrying and putting it on fire when drawing.

Lack of that type of safety is why I love the Glocks. Again, thanks for this article. Even a little kid has seen enough movies to know what a safety switch is. The fact is if your finger is on a trigger you intend to shoot.

You must be from California. I prefer to NOT rack-a-round when im not intending to fire my pistol. That one motion is serious buisness Thats why i Love Glock. I think most people rely on a Safety feature on other pistols. If you do not carry with a live round in the barrel it could cost your life some day. I wish Glock would add a grip safety to block firing pin like the Springfields have , but I am going to buy a Glock 48 anyway because they are the perfect carry size.

JB from Ky. Who in the hell leaves a gun where a third grader can access it for any reason? Again, human error blamed on the gun!!!!! People concerned with safety may install manual trigger safety after they purchase a Glock.

That on the trigger only prevents the gun firing if dropped. It lacks a manual safety that prevents the gun from firing even if the trigger is moved. Glocks do, to an extent, use trigger pull weight as a safety. A Glock pistol can be modified to have a very light trigger with minimal take-up.

They are sometimes modified in this manner by competitive shooters. But the modifications are not recommended for concealment or service pistols. The biggest exclusion is that of the frame or slide-mounted safety.

On a Glock, if the gun is loaded, the trigger is ready to be pulled. The advantage of having no devices which keep the shooter from pulling the trigger is that the pistol is ready to shoot with minimal manipulation.

There is nothing for the shooter to forget to push down, or up. There is also nothing for the shooter to accidentally activate while handling the slide during a reload.

After the first shot is fired, there is no difference in trigger pull for subsequent shots, and every safety feature a Glock uses will automatically reset. In a stressful situation, having a pistol that manages many of the fine details itself is a blessing. A life situation that almost all of us are familiar with is having a motor vehicle not respond to input. The feeling of having a gun not fire when you expect it to fire is much the same. By omitting some of the traditional safeties, and replacing them with others, Glock has significantly reduced the chance of this happening.

This is especially important for people who do not regularly practice but still choose to arm themselves. The most iconic safety that Glock pistols feature is the one on the trigger. Rick September 12, Robert April 22, Joyce B Trawick April 22, Leave a comment Name.
