Is it possible to lose the landsmeet

There are a vast number of possibilities and outcomes for the main characters after Loghain has been defeated in the duel. Some of these choices and options will only be available to characters with a high Coercion rank, or by laying groundwork for them in prior events.

Depending on the choices made during the dialogue, deciding the fates of these characters can be a tangled affair, with one decision having significant consequences for the fate of the others. After rescuing Anora and before the Landsmeet, you will have several opportunities to talk to Alistair regarding his becoming king. If you intend to make him king and are pursuing a positive relationship with him, and regardless of whether you really intend to have him marry Anora, you should convince him that it's a good idea, using either cunning or persuasion to do so.

Otherwise, after the Landsmeet and the cutscene at Arl Eamon's estate, he will disapprove Also, this has to be done before leaving the estate for the Landsmeet; the necessary conversation options are not available after that. However, it should be noted that if you have hardened Alistair and do not want him to rule, do not let him duel or kill Loghain otherwise the Warden will not get to decide and Alistair will automatically be made king.

It is also important to note that if you want Alistair to rule jointly with Anora, you must not let Alistair execute Loghain after defeating him in battle which will also happen if you say Loghain must die, but then say you can't go through with it. The phrase "I thought the two of you were going to marry" may need to be used. If Loghain is executed by Alistair, Anora will refuse to rule jointly with him and force you to choose between herself and Alistair.

Anora will refuse to marry the man who kills her father, so if you are planning for either the male Human Noble or Alistair to rule with her, you must make the other individual perform the deed.

If you make Alistair rule jointly with Anora it is still possible to recruit Loghain. Though a "hardened" Alistair will not be happy, he will still rule jointly with Anora. However, if Loghain is recruited, Alistair will leave the party no matter what. Dragon Age Wiki Explore. Dragon Age Series. Explore Wikis Community Central. Register Don't have an account?

The Landsmeet. Edit source History Talk Do you like this video? Play Sound. Every dusty noble estate in Denerim is airing its sheets, waiting for the lord to ride into town. Note: Once the Landsmeet is convened, and if Zevran was recruited as a companion, you will have a random encounter with Taliesen when you travel to any location outside the Market District, regardless of destination or intention.

He does not have to be in the current party for this encounter to happen. If his approval is low enough he will betray the Warden, and if it is high enough it will force a party reselect and lock Zevran into the party for the fight with Taliesen.

It is likely you will have to complete this battle before you can access the destination you seek. If you do not wish to bring Zevran to rescue the queen, you must complete the encounter by traveling between the Market District and anywhere else such as the Pearl until it triggers, or bring Shale to force a party reselect at the estate.

Note: The reaction of the guards and servants to your party is a scripted event. This means that even with max stealth and high dexterity the servants will raise the alarm and turn the castle hostile to you the instant you enter the first room if you are not wearing the guard uniforms.

The quest can still be completed without combat, since even though the castle is hostile to you, with a high enough stealth the guards will still not see you moving your party back into the little entrance hallway and telling them to hold position is recommended.

Companions will comment on her betrayal, and she will chastise your lack of subtlety when you speak to her again at Eamon's estate. Note: If captured, your equipment will be removed and placed in a chest near the door outside your cell.

If they are not retrieved, you cannot return after escaping the fort and they are forever lost although on Nightmare difficulty it can be very difficult to even defeat the mabari in the next room over while naked and leave without your gear anyway. Note: For players with high Cunning usually rogues , certain dialog choices will lead to an option based on Cunning instead of Coercion , allowing the PC to convince Alistair to marry Anora even if they do not have the Coercion skill. Note: If you have not yet spoken to Anora about forming an alliance against Loghain whether through outright support, marriage to Alistair, or marriage to a male Human Noble Warden , your last chance to do so is right before reporting back to Eamon.

Note: Entering the Royal Palace and completing the Landsmeet is a point of no return. Once you do this, you will no longer be able to interact with anyone in Redcliffe. Make sure to get any trading or quests there done before you finish the Landsmeet.

Note: If Alistair is removed from play due to the events that follow, so will all items he had equipped the moment the Warden's party opened the doors to the Landsmeet chamber. The short and simplified explanation: You need five "points" to win the Landsmeet Anora's support is worth 3 The Grand Cleric's denunciation is worth 2 Each named noble who supports you is worth 1 Persuasive arguments are worth 1 Failed arguments cost you 1 Arl Bryland always supports you, he is not counted toward your support.

He's counter-balanced by Bann Ceorlic, who always sides with Loghain. This was done for the sake of scripting the melee battle, since named characters fight on the side of whomever they support. It is entirely possible to win the Landsmeet without Anora, if you have the support of the named nobles and pick the right arguments. It's entirely possible to win the Landsmeet with only Anora and no other named nobles. And it's possible to have Anora and some named nobles, and lose due to your argument choices.

As for the duel, do you really want to skip it? If you lose the landsmeet, you have an extra battle the toughest one I had in my first playthough. So I didn't find the Landsmeet irrelevant myself. The duel, by comparison, was easy. And more satisfying than just getting Loghain executed, I guess.

Ok what is with people and their arguments, IIRC you can only choose one. I always chose the you retreated at ostagar line and thats all they let me say. Yeah I do that side quest every single time but I usually go for other accusations such as abandoning Cailan, Howe's dungeon of torture and selling elfs Just as a curiosity is it possible to get a victory better than 5 to 2?

Is say a 6 to 1 victory possible at all? If Alistair duels Loghain as the Warden's champion, he will execute him before Riordan has a chance to intervene. Anora utterly refuses to marry her father's killer. If you choose to induct Loghain into the Grey Wardens, the party will permanently lose Alistair.

He will either renounce his royal claim and disappear, begin immediate preparations to rule jointly with Anora if a political marriage was arranged at Eamon's Estate, or be executed at Anora's order. With Loghain's death, perhaps some justice is served for the loss of Cailan and Duncan.

If you want Anora and Alistair to rule together, you must execute Loghain yourself; if a male Cousland Warden is angling for Prince Consort, he must have Alistair execute Loghain. This is a list of all outcomes of the Landsmeet, covering royal succession and Loghain's life.

To avoid ambiguity, it includes permutations that are not possible no matter what choices are made. These outcomes can be achieved regardless of the Warden's race, gender or origin.

If a male human noble has worked out a marriage arrangement with Anora at Eamon's Estate, and then at the Landsmeet proclaims that he will rule at Anora's side as her husband without personally killing her father beforehand, Anora will immediately step forward to accept the throne and declare the hero to be her husband, the King Consort, the General of her armies and the Hero who will save Ferelden from the Blight.

She will then order the nobles at the Landsmeet to gather their forces and await the King Consort's command. Keep me logged in on this device Forgot your username or password? Don't have an account?
